My Disorganized Organized Chaos

The Craft Room of Shame Award should go to me, if there was such an award.
I've spent money and time and time and money trying to get organized, so I can find things.
When I think I've got it, I find out quicly I don't..

My biggest issues with my current solution, which was to buy tons of plastic shoe boxes, is not being able to easily find things despite writing on the outside of the box and the fact they are clear. Then you have all the tiny things like beads, and glitter and bling and such that get lost in the chaos. I really thought this was going to be the greatest thing when I bought all these tubs and stuffed them full. Not being able to quickly find stuff, and having to make sure boxes stacked on boxes do not fall on my head when I need one on the bottom is no fun at all.

I know one problem I have is not putting things away correctly, that I know I really need to work on. The other problem that I have no way of changing is my room is very very small, about the size of a walk-in closet. It is actually a side porch that I use for my craft room, one day I hope to have a bigger room but until then, I live with the chaos and clutter of a way too tiny space that I wish I could make more user friendly.

I have crates that hold paper, which is another huge problem, the paper seems to run away from me and the way it is organized I can't find what I want without having to pull stacks of paper off a shelf and go through it, by the time I finish hunting down everything I want to use for a project I'm too tired to do the project.

Have you ever found yourself too tired to do a project after spending so much time looking for what you need, it's discouraging and makes you loose your mojo really quickly.

I now have 3 large tubs that currently will not fit in my craft room sitting in my living room.. Yes it migrates crafty stuff, it certainly does.. I believe it has a mind of its own.. and it will not be contained.. LOL

I will continue to fight the war to contain my crafty stuff, although I seem to be constantly loosing the battle..

It's not fun when stuff falls on your head.. Nope not fun at all.

My Desk has become a catch all, as I try to find places for stuff that has migrated to other parts of the house.
and behind that is the Tower of Paper that seems will never be tamed.

The one thing I like about my room is the curtain rods on the wall that I hang my ribbon on..

What is Public Domain?

As a Designer of Vintage Digital Kits, I use a lot of Public Domain Images, in my art work.
I try very hard to be diligent in researching each image I choose to use. Not only that, but I don't just take an image and use it "as is" in my kits, I alter it in someway shape or form; as part of another embellishment or part of a background image on a "paper". With that said, I've had a lot of questions about my work and the use of the vintage images you see.

I am hoping that this post will answer those questions for you and give you more resources for finding out about public domain images, and how to use them, when to use them and how to be sure they are indeed copywrite free. As diligent as I try to be I make mistakes too, and may have information wrong, or find the wrong information on an image, if this happens and I am informed I am using an image that is not public domain or violates any copywrite laws I will remove the image and correct the problem as soon as I am aware of it.

The Basics:

Generally anything published in the USA before Jan 1 1923; is considered public domain.
There are some gray areas, so you still need to be diligent about researching any image you choose to use in your artwork. It is up to you as a designer to keep up with the various copywrite rules and to research every image you use. Unless it was taken by yourself with your own camera.

Everything published in the U.S. between 1923 – 1963 is in the Public Domain only if it’s copyright protection was NOT renewed in the 28th year after publication. For example Walt Disney's Work is Copywrite Protected and always will be.

Stop Theft of Digital Art and Digital Images.

Artiest work hard on what they make and share, to take a persons work and call it your own, sell it share it or what have you with out permission is the same as going to a store and shoplifting!
Support Artiest by showing you care about their effort and work.

Don't Take an image and call it your own when you know it's not!
Many artiest have TOUs ( Terms of Use) included on their sites or in there files when you purchase them. Mine is posted right here on my blog and also included in my downloads. Digital Scrapbookers and Digital Stamp users, please respect the work of the artiest and read the TOUs if you have a question, many of the artiest within this community welcome you to contact them. If you wish to use an item for something and are not sure if it's allowed, ask.

While browsing around for freebies and we all do, as many are legit; if you see a digital stamp posted as a freebie, or a digital element posted as a freebie or for sale on someones site, that you know isn't their work. Don't use it. Report it. Stop Theft. Many of the stamps I've seen that are stolen are inferior, they will not print in a high resolution anyway using them is just waisting your time.

Doing a B.O.M Challenge... On HUMMIES WORLD

I think everyone should do a B.O.M album, as we scrappers rarely scrap about ourselves. Our Children would appreciate a book about their moms, just as much as they do books about themselves.
There are 2 sets of Challenges for a total of 40 pages, a great start to an Album all about YOU..

Here is what I've done so far.. One Page I did Twice. I will ad more as I finish them..

This is Challenge 1 Hometown

Challenge 2 (one) Defining Moment in your life.

Challenge 3 Favorite Traditional Hymn.

This one I did with out the journal box for myself.

Altered Box : Chair

I plan to do a video of this box so that you can see more detail. I had seen these 2x2 paper fold boxes, and was inspired to make a different kind. Mine is made from a 4x4 paper mache box from the dollar tree. I made the back of the chair with a piece of chip board. The Striped paper is from DCWV Luxury Stack. The other paper is a type of velvet paper that's really soft. I had the little vintage spaghetti poodle hanging around, which use to be part of a figurine set but the lady had gotten broke. I even made the pillow the dog is sitting on. This turn out to be a very study box and was a lot of fun to make.

Over the past few days I've been doing a lot of Fourth of July Pages and a Card.. I thought I would share them here with you...

The First Two Layouts are Digital - From the Americana Bundle $9.99 at Daisy Company and a few other elements from various Free Kits..

This Layout is a Hybrid made with a few digital kits, printed in 8x8, then matted on 12x12 card stock and embellished with prima flowers, Distressed Inked Grunge Board, and ribbon.

And Finally a Card Using Digi Stamps... How Cute is that! The Heart Stamp is a freebie from Operation Write Home, the inside dog and word art is my own creation.

Hope I've inspired you to create some 4th of July pages/Cards Yourself..

Reflections..

I had fun last night playing with reflections, and thought I would share my pages.

The first one is of my dog Hooch. I often use these photos of Hooch when learning new techniques because of the plain backgrounds. I first made a Word Art Frame with his name, added his pictures and converted it to a Bitmap.

Then I copied the Bitmap, reversed it and butted it up against the first picture, using tools like Transparency and Blur effects, I made it appear as a reflection of the top photo.

In the following page:

I used two photos that my DH took of a Sun Set and water.

I first took the sunset picture, copied and reversed the second image, butted it up against the first, applying the same techniques as I used in my page of Hooch. Then I took the second Picture of water, used the transparent effects and layered it on top of the second photo.

Added the boat, ducks and lab puppy and came up with a very peaceful page.

Purse Card Template Freebie

I wanted to share a card with you I recently made. I've seen similar cards with a steep price tag. So I decided why not try to make one my own way. I made the template used it in my digital scrapbook software. To ad the color and the pocket on the front. Then Printed and Cut it out, added the ribbon handle and little charm dangle. I made the charm dangle with some broken pieces of jewelry, some pony beads and a key ring.

I also made a template for Traditional Scrapbook artist and card makers as well.. See the link under the pictures to down load this freebie..

Hybrid Card I made for my Mom

This Hybrid Card uses, regular pattern paper, and digital elements printed and cut out.
The butterflies are two cut out and glued back to back, a pop dot in the center to put it on the
card then, fold up the wings. The flower was also a digital element.

I love Serif Digital Scrapbook Artest 2.. It's very easy to use, and I love that it allows me to be creative without making it a headache.. You can get a free compact version of DSA to check out at Daisytrail.com

Moutains,clouds and Photography

Today I got a chance to get out with my Hubby and take some landscape and Cloud Pictures,
Thought I would share them here with you.. I hope to scrap them and use them as backgrounds for some pages soon. The First Few are my Shots, and the lasts are my Hubby's (after his pic) What I love most about this is it's a shared hobby for both of us and gives us togetherness time, and we both get such different shots of the same things.. I actually took more photo's than the three I showed of mine but I thought his were better, so I shared more of his work than mine.

Before Scrapbooking I dabled in Drawing.. not the best at it but it was/is fun. I sometimes add little drawings to my scrapbook pages.
I also have a couple other hobbies, writing poetry and photography. It was these three hobbies that made me think about scrapbooking, I was looking for a way to combine all my hobbies into one. So from time to time, I will have some rather odd pages with poems and odd photograpy and drawings.

Media Hype and Pitbulls..

Why does the media seem to show so much bad press about pitbulls?

It gets attention, it's sensationalism at it's best. It sells newspapers and gets veiwer reaction on TV. Statistics show that mored dog bites are form breeds such as poodles, Chihuahuas and other small dogs than Pitbulls. Statistics also show that pitbulls are the breed listed top with the highest scores in Canine Good Citizens Tests. They can and do under the right hands go on to be great canine citizens, therapy d0gs, drug sniffing dogs, search and rescue dogs and more!

Why does what seem like a normal sweet natured pitbull bite, for the same reasons any other breed will, like these for instance.
1. Bad Breeding
2. Improper socialization
3. Lack of obedience training
4. Neglect
5. Fear6. Abuse

7. The owners inabillity to understand teh needs of his breed, his dog, his pet.

8. Resource Gaurding (very typical in Retrievers, small dogs and many other breeds)

I can go on on but most dog lovers who have doen thier homework and researched the breed that they are interested in adding to the family do the right things that the breeds it's temperment activity level ect ask for.It's the people who impusle shop for a puppy that do not research the breed and do not make sure the this breed will fit into thier family's lifesytle that end up with an un-happy difficult dog.It's not the breed of the dog, it's the way the dog is handled and raised the makes a dog a biter.

I have seen many, many abused pitbulls. I can only say that it's not breed standard for human aggression in APBT's in fact it is frowned upon highly by pitbull enthusiasts and breeders, it's not typical of the breed.Even dog fighters will not breed an pitbull that is human aggressive, because they have be able to handle teh dog during some pretty extreme and painful situations even a dog fighter won't have a dog that bites them. Most dogs will bite in fear,shock or as a defense when badly hurt, a pitbull will lick your hand even with his body torn up bleeding in shock.It's un-ethical breeders, back yard breeders and idiots who breed without considering temperment that breed dogs that give Pits a bad rap.It's owners who think it's fun to fight, usually young men, from urban back ground or who grew up in families that fought dogs. This is not a racial thing, Black, White, Urban or Country. Pitbulls are still being fought, they are still often seen as status symbols from the Inner Cities to the Deep South. Pitbulls are so people pleasing that they will do anything thier master asks of them and do it well. If their master wants them to attack then that's what they will do, if thier master asks them to fight then they will fight to the death!

Now to make things even more iteresting not all "pitbulls' in the media are really pitbulls. The name Pitbull is a catch all name for a lot of different breeds the resembles a certain bully look.

All of these breeds are consider pitbulls, by media, legislation and others.

The American Pitbull Terrier

The American Staffordshire Terrier (AKC's name for the APBT)

The English Bull Terrier

The Staffordshire Terrier

The American Bully or The American Bulldog whichever you prefer.

To name a few, then you have mixes of these breeds, and mixes of these breeds with other mastiff type brees, such as the English Mastiff, Cane Corsa, Italian Mastiff, and Rottie not to mention the mixes of the bully breeds listed above.

In the media they are all pitbulls if it looks like a duck it's a duck right, wrong! Not in the case of Pitbulls anyway. In a lot of media cases where a dog was dubbed a pitbull, in fact it was not a pitbull, but a mix breed of pit and something or some other mastiff type dog. Who have not been trained correctly or badly breed.

The difference bether the bite of a pitbull and the bite of a Chihuahua is the a a pits bite does more damange, not because of the breed but because of the size.

Tie any dog to a logging chain in the back yard, throw food at it when it's lucky, Bring it out only to brag to your friends at about the bad A**! dog you have. Throw him in the ring with anther dog hell bent on ending it's life, you will get one a fear biter,a chewed up dog, a dead dog, or a dog so mixed up and confused it is mentally damaged and yeah you will get a dog that without socialzation or training may or man not attack when provoked or when it concieves he may be in danger, THIS IS ANY BREED..

I may not have written this as eloquently as some and I may have some typos and misspelled words, but I believe in and stand behind the pitbull breed whole heartily.They are the most abused dog breed out here, and one of the most people pleasing family dog breeds there is.

Can you look into the eyes of and abused pit on death row, and not feel the deep sadness radiating off him, and walk away because after all "Its only a pitbull they are "bad" dogs who cares about Ptibulls anyway"I Care..

I have seen some pretty bad cases and I can't walk away from that pain, I have had pitbulls all my life, my family, friends and neighbors have had them and I have never been bitten by a pitbull Ever! I have worked in rescue and have been bitten by a lab, a chihuahua, a poodle mix and a cocker spaniel, but never by a pitbulll, and some of the pitbulls I've seen had been thru Hell and were still glad to see you when you walked by thier kennel wagging their tails eager to just lick your hand and and sit by you. I urge you to google pit bulls, go to pitbull websites, forums and learn about this wonderful breed, and all it's been through.
